General Tips on Flow Arts |
Overview
Practicing and developing a skill in Flow Arts involves a personal journey that can be both fun and fulfilling. Mastery involves effort, patience, and motivation. It is an arduous journey. But with enough determination, anyone is capable of cultivating this artistic skill. Here are a few things to consider:
○ Increases overall cleanliness.
○ Applies to ALL skill levels.
○ Being part of a community is motivating to one's practice.³
○ Mindfulness exercises, yoga or meditation can cultivate mindfulness.
○ Appreciate the joy of simply engaging with the art form that innately emphasizes Flow.

- Take things SLOW. Walking through moves slowly can improve one's ability to learn complex moves.¹
○ Increases overall cleanliness.
○ Applies to ALL skill levels.
- Practice makes perfect. It's a no-brainer, so have patience. However:
- Occasionally watch video performances. They can inspire new concepts, ideas, or styles in one's practice.
- Join a community of like-minded individuals or encourage your friends to practice with you.
○ Being part of a community is motivating to one's practice.³
- Consider practicing mindfulness. It has been shown to increase the ability to achieve the flow state.⁴
○ Mindfulness exercises, yoga or meditation can cultivate mindfulness.
- Most importantly, have FUN with it!
○ Appreciate the joy of simply engaging with the art form that innately emphasizes Flow.
